What problem did your team solve/address? The problems that our team had to solve was the timing of the two schools. For the big event we wanted to involve the middle school that was home to us. The day before our event, we found out that the girls were testing so we invited our lovely freshmens to be a part of such a wonderful event.
How is this need aligned with your impact area? We wanted to impact the underclassmen in order for them to feel much more confident when they reach their senior year. We found it also beneficial to involve freshmen so that before they choose their pathways for the following year, they will do it feeling powerful and willing for anything that comes their path.
What research did you do to find out what has come before or already exists? We conducted many surveys to ask the girls how they felt about our different workshops and if something of this sort was needed. Many responded with them being happy for a program that advocates to help them and motivate them to reach high for the sky.
How did you identify the problem that you wanted to solve? We identified the problem with problems, we ourselves, felt at a young age. These problems were sisterhood and confidence. We felt that at such a young age, women need to be reminded that they have people who are rooting for them to succeed, that we are all in it together and that anything is possible if we just let ourselves dream.
What evidence (observational data, test scores, or research) did you use to identify this issue? We were able to read what the girls thought of our events with exit tickets and also surveys.
