Our project is to create a sustainable support group called “Ladies with Height” on campus that promotes women’s empowerment in our community. This club will be held once a month with multiple themes such as civic engagement to target every young girl. The actions of our group will be three-fold. • Goal 1: Weekly Club Meetings ➢ Purpose: ➥To plan and discuss upcoming events with the young girls. ➥ To provide a safe space to share our concerns (gender and otherwise) with each other and others interested in the space. • Goal 2: Host monthly workshops at middle schools. ➢ Purpose: ➥ To facilitate circle workshops to engage participants in topics affecting young women in our community. ➥ To mentor younger female students and provide them advice on successful practices for their high school transition. • Goal 3: Promote girls' empowerment and gender rights by hosting, "Find Your WOMENTUM Speaker Series" on March 8th. ➢ Purpose: ➥ Create awareness of gender inequality in the workspace through the stories shared by speakers. ➥ Provide female role models of resistance and resilience. ➥ Recruit diverse women working in different industries through our personal connections and teachers at Roosevelt. The first meeting in January will be held at Hollenbeck MS, while the second one will be at Stevenson MS, both of which are local schools.
